notallwhowonder.com is taken from the J.R.R.Tolkien poem entitled “All that is gold does not glitter“.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
Yes, I understand that I spelled wo/ander wrong, but that is part of the purpose of my blog, to focus on all my wonderings and to make the claim, against what I was raised to believe, that wondering about, discussing, or challenging established norms does not mean you are lost, or damned, or stupid. Also, the other spelling was already taken, so, you know, this works.
What will you find here? Well, to be honest, as I sit here in a Daz Bog in Loveland Colorado, I’m really not sure. I think I’m going to share some of my thoughts on life, God, religion, faith, science, philosophy, poetry, music, and whatever else crosses my mind to jot down, I may also invite some friends from time to time to put their thoughts down here as well. I know, I know, I’m supposed to pick a particular topic and focus on it, that way I can grow a readership and people will follow my blog. Well, I don’t care. I don’t even really care if people read this or not, I’m not even sure I’m going to tell people I’m writing here. The reality is that I need a place to dump these thoughts, and I need to know that there is at least a possibility that I might be able to engage with other people about these thoughts. So that’s what I’m doing. Oh, I also live in China Most of the year, so I will probably talk a little bit about my travels (that’s how I will hit on both kinds of wo/ander here on my site).
At any rate, if you have found yourself here, and you are wondering what on earth the point of this blog is, well, I guess that’s something we will both be figuring out over time. Join me if you like, or don’t. Either is really OK with me.
